Scan tools and adapters: what to choose and how to connect
What an ELM327 adapter with an app, a multi-brand scan tool and dealer software can do, why a cheap adapter doesn’t see all the modules, and how to connect to a passenger car or a truck without damaging anything.
9 min · 4 questionsfreeThe scan tool diagnostic procedure
Where diagnostics begins: talking to the customer, scanning all modules, saving codes and freeze frames before clearing, readiness monitors — and why clearing a code doesn’t mean fixing it.
9 min · 4 questionsfreeTrouble codes: statuses, freeze frame and root cause
Current, stored and pending codes, the freeze frame, how P/B/C/U and SPN/FMI codes are structured — and how to find the one to start with in a pile of codes.
10 min · 4 questionsfreeEngine live data: what to check first
Which live data to watch at warm idle and in what order — rpm, temperature, voltage, MAF and MAP, throttle, ignition timing, injection, oxygen sensors, trims — and how to cross-check them against each other.
10 min · 4 questionsfreeFuel trims and oxygen sensors
How the module adjusts the mixture from the oxygen sensor, what plus and minus mean in short-term and long-term trims, how to tell an air leak from a weak fuel supply, and what narrowband, wideband and downstream sensors show.
10 min · 4 questionsfreeEmission systems with a scan tool: catalytic converter, EVAP, EGR, secondary air and Mode 06
How to take an emissions code all the way to a repair: Mode 06 and a monitor on the edge, the causes of P0420, EVAP leaks and the smoke machine, checking EGR and secondary air — and what to tell a customer who asks you to “delete” a system.

Graphs and recording: catching an intermittent fault
How to choose parameters for a graph, record a drive, find the moment of the glitch in the recording, and prove the repair by comparing “before” and “after”.
9 min · 4 questionsfull courseActuator tests
How to use a scan tool to switch on the fuel pump, injectors, fan, valves and coils, why it’s needed, how to stay safe, and why operation is confirmed with current, pressure or an oscilloscope rather than by ear.
8 min · 4 questionsfull courseAdaptations and resets
Which relearns and resets are done with a scan tool after a repair — throttle body, fuel adaptations, automatic transmission, power windows and the steering angle sensor after a battery replacement, the service interval — and which “services” we don’t provide.
9 min · 4 questionsfull courseEngine tests with a scan tool: compression, balance, misfires, timing
What a scan tool’s built-in tests can do — relative compression, cylinder balance, misfire counters and crankshaft/camshaft correlation — what they show and what they don’t.
9 min · 4 questionsfull courseCompression and mechanicals: when the electrics aren’t to blame
How to measure compression correctly with a compression gauge, compare the cylinders, do the oil test and recognize when the car should go to an engine specialist.
9 min · 4 questionsfull courseNo communication: the scan tool can’t see the modules
How to track down the problem when the scan tool won’t communicate with the car or with a single module: the scan tool itself, power and ground at the OBD connector, CAN resistance of about 60 Ω, K-line, and a device that “takes down” the bus.
9 min · 4 questionsfull courseTrucks and heavy equipment: a 24 V scan tool
Diagnosing trucks with a scan tool over J1939: SPN/FMI codes, 24 V systems, 9- and 16-pin connectors, Chinese trucks and KAMAZ with Cummins, Russian localization and choosing software — and what we don’t touch.
9 min · 4 questionsfull courseCommon Rail diesel and SCR with a scan tool — no deletes
What to check in a diesel’s live data — target and actual rail pressure, the metering valve, injector corrections — where the electrician’s job ends, how to check the SCR with the NOx sensors, AdBlue quality and tests, and why we don’t fit emulators.
10 min · 4 questionsfull courseOther systems and scan tool service functions
What else a scan tool can do in manufacturer-specific mode: wheel speed sensors and ABS bleeding, steering angle sensor calibration, airbags, tire pressure sensors, injector codes and diesel particulate filter regeneration, climate and body tests.
10 min · 4 questionsfull courseOfficial reprogramming: J2534, dealer portals, secure gateways
When a module software update counts as a repair, how it’s written officially — through a J2534 adapter and the manufacturer’s portal or dealer equipment — how to hold the voltage while programming, what to do if programming is interrupted, how to work with a secure gateway, and what we don’t do.
9 min · 4 questionsfull courseADAS after repairs: what the scan tool shows and when calibration is needed
Which sensors help the driver — the camera, radars, surround-view cameras and parking sensors — what codes the scan tool shows for them, which jobs call for calibration by the manufacturer’s procedure, how static calibration differs from dynamic, and why it’s never done “by eye”.
9 min · 4 questionsfull courseHybrids and electric vehicles: what a scan tool shows
What a scan tool can read on a hybrid or electric vehicle — the state of charge, battery voltages and temperatures, BMS codes, insulation monitoring — why the car often “won’t switch on” because of the 12-volt battery, and how frosts affect the battery.
9 min · 4 questionsfull courseCustomer report and working with information
How to save a scan tool report with codes, freeze frames and before-and-after graphs, explain to the customer in simple words what’s urgent and what can wait, back up your findings, where to get verified data and how to keep your own case database.

Questions
How much does the course cost?
Lessons 1–5 are free. Lessons 6–19 unlock after a one-time payment of 19 990 ₸, with lifetime access. Launch price: 9 990 ₸ for the first 20 buyers.
Do I need experience?
No scan tool experience is fine: the first lesson covers which scan tool or adapter to choose and how to connect. Electrical basics are covered in the “For future auto electricians” course.
How do I pay?
Message Oleg on WhatsApp — he will send you the Kaspi number. After payment Oleg sends an access code: enter it in the app at lesson 6. One code works on three phones. Payment is official, via a sole proprietorship; companies can pay by invoice.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes. After payment the app unlocks a final test: 20 questions covering all lessons, and you need at least 16 correct answers for the certificate. The certificate of completion can be verified by its number. It is not a state-recognised diploma: this is a self-study course.
Does it work offline?
Yes: in the Android app, lessons open without the internet. You need a connection once, to enter the access code.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes: open help.avtoelektrik-pro.kz in Safari and add the icon to your Home Screen. There is an app for Android.
