P2107 — Throttle Actuator Control Module Processor

Don’t put off the repair

A fault code doesn’t yet mean the unit or sensor itself is faulty: often it’s the plug and connector leading to it.

Possible causes

What you can do yourself

  1. First check the battery, the terminals and the control unit ground: with a poor supply the unit makes errors.
  2. With this fault the engine goes into limp mode: the throttle stays slightly open, so the car moves slowly and accelerates poorly. Don’t overtake; keep to the right-hand lane until you reach a service centre.
  3. If the car stops responding to the gas pedal completely while driving, turn on the hazard lights, pull over to the shoulder and stop. If it still drives but responds poorly, you can drive on carefully, but don’t put off the check.

Stop and don’t drive on if:

  • The Check Engine light is flashing
  • The temperature gauge is in the red or the overheating light is on
  • The red oil pressure light is on
  • Smoke from under the bonnet, a burning or petrol smell
  • Strong jerking, knocking from the engine, or the car barely moves
