U0321 — Software Incompatibility With Suspension Control Module "A"

Don’t put off the repair

A fault code doesn’t yet mean the unit or sensor itself is faulty: often it’s the plug and connector leading to it.

Possible causes

What you can do yourself

  1. The air suspension or adjustable dampers may go into a fail-safe mode: the car may sag or ride harder. If it has sagged a lot or leans, drive slowly and don’t carry loads.
  2. This code usually appears after a unit was replaced or reprogrammed. Think about what was replaced or reprogrammed.
  3. Compare the labels on the old and new unit: part number, hardware (HW) and software (SW) numbers. If they don’t match, the unit may work incorrectly even if the car starts.
  4. The unit is coded to the car with a scan tool that supports this make. Connect a battery charger while this is done: if the voltage drops, the programming fails.

Stop and don’t drive on if:

  • The instrument panel went dark or many warning lights came on at once
  • Power steering is gone or the brakes don’t work as usual
