A fault code doesn’t yet mean the unit or sensor itself is faulty: often it’s the plug and connector leading to it.
What you can do yourself
- This is the second communication bus between control units.
- Check the bus connectors and wires, and the power and ground of the control units.
- Often the cause is one faulty control unit or a corroded connector.
Stop and don’t drive on if:
- The instrument panel went dark or many warning lights came on at once
- Power steering is gone or the brakes don’t work as usual
Add the FMI — the second number of the code. It shows what exactly is wrong with the parameter.
