P0497 — Evaporative Emission System Low Purge Flow

OA fault code doesn’t yet mean the unit or sensor itself is faulty: often it’s the plug and connector leading to it.

Possible causes

• The EVAP purge valve doesn’t open
• The purge hose is kinked, cracked or blocked
• The canister is clogged — often from filling the tank to the brim

What you can do yourself

1. Check the EVAP purge valve and its hoses.
2. Don’t keep filling after the nozzle first clicks off: the extra fuel gets into the canister.
