A fault code doesn’t yet mean the unit or sensor itself is faulty: often it’s the plug and connector leading to it.
Possible causes
- The unit was replaced (new or from another car) but not coded to this car
- The unit’s part number or software version doesn’t match the car
- Programming or setup of the unit didn’t finish
What you can do yourself
- This code usually appears after the ABS or brake control unit was replaced. Until the unit is coded, ABS and ESP may not work: brake smoothly and keep your distance.
- The unit is coded to the car with a scan tool that supports this make. Connect a battery charger while this is done: if the voltage drops, the programming fails.
Stop and don’t drive on if:
- The red brake light is on, or the brake pedal feels soft or sinks
- The steering became very heavy, or the car pulls to one side when braking
The explanation comes from the error code reference in the AvtoElektrik PRO app.
