The “Hill descent control (HDC)” light on the dashboard

Green lightInformation

Hill descent control is on: on a steep downhill the car brakes by itself and holds a low speed.

Hill descent control (HDC)Green light · Information

Tap the light to turn it on or off, just like on the dashboard.

What you can do yourself

  1. Flashing on a descent means the system is braking — that’s normal. The brakes may make noise while it works.
  2. Turn the system off with its button on level roads. If it’s yellow, the system is unavailable or faulty.

Oleg’s tip: the colour of the symbol tells you how urgent it is

For example: a red oil pressure or overheating light — stop straight away and switch the engine off. A yellow Check Engine light with the engine running smoothly — drive on and get a diagnosis.
