Dashboard warning light

The “Trailer ABS/EBS” light on the dashboard

Yellow lightDon’t put off the repairTrucks

A trailer ABS or EBS fault: the trailer brakes still work, but the wheels may lock under hard braking.

Trailer ABS/EBSYellow light · Don’t put off the repair

Tap the light to turn it on or off, just like on the dashboard.

What you can do yourself

  1. Brake early and gently, especially on slippery roads and downhill.
  2. Check the ABS/EBS connector between the tractor and trailer (ISO 7638): fully plugged in, contacts not corroded, cable intact.
  3. If it stays on, the trailer needs a diagnosis: often a wheel speed sensor or the modulator power supply.

Stop and don’t drive on if:

  • The low air pressure light is on or the buzzer sounds
  • The air pressure gauges on the dashboard are below the normal range or dropping
  • The brakes have got worse, or the vehicle is braking by itself

Oleg’s tip: the colour of the symbol tells you how urgent it is

For example: a red oil pressure or overheating light — stop straight away and switch the engine off. A yellow Check Engine light with the engine running smoothly — drive on and get a diagnosis.
